We have a new local hobby shop in Bel Air. We all know the benifits of having a
good local hobby shop. So please give them as much support as possible. Hobby Works
has competive pricing. Check out there fuel prices.
Hobby Works has also put togeather a couple of basic trainer packages that are
very complete. These package prices are available to HCRCM club members only. You
can check out the packages and pricing here.
New Photo Page up and running
Sam loaded a new photo program this week. I have added several hundred photos I have taken and collected over the years. If you have pictures you would like added please put them together on a CD and get them to me. I will add any info/details you would like listed with the picture. Get them to me and I will take care of uploading them.

The club Fun Fly was a success as far as club members showing up and flying. If only flyers from other clubs had joined us. I guess we cannot expect them to attend our events if we (the membership) do not attend there events.
Just a thought!
The Buc-Le RC Club [our friends at Quakertown, PA] is having a Kid's Day on Sep 9th, 10 AM until 3 PM and invited us to participate in their program, especially instructors and MIG owners. Open flying after 3 PM. Their field is 150' x 1000' grass. Complete details are on our web page. Driving time from Bel Air is two hours. Try something different. Visit their field and help out or just fly. HCRCM convoy will meet at the Hickory WaWa 7:30 AM for departure to Quakertown. Prez
Harford County Radio Controlled Modelers second annual merit badge weekend is a big suscess.
Thanks: This was the second year that we [HCRCM] hosted the scouts for a flying weekend to help them complete their requirements for the Aviation merit badge. The 30+ scouts and their leaders appreciate our efforts and thank the members who participated. I would like to thank the following members for their support for making it more successful than it was last year: Dean, Sam, Pete, Robert, Benjamin, Jeff L., Tim, Bruce, John R., Mike M., Eric, Dave S., Doug, Joe and all the guest pilots and spectators. For those of you who had guests, please invite them to come fly with us again. The climaxing event for Saturday was the helicopter ride for everyone. A great show. Sam took over three hundred pictures. Look for them on the web soon. This is a fine example of maintaining our "Gold Club" status. Prez

The scouts arrived at the field late Friday afternoon and setup camp. Saturday morning rolls around and by 9:00am the troops were feed and opening ceramoanies were just finishing up(top photo).
As the club members readied their planes the scouts started lining up for there turn at the controls (above photo).
HCRCM club member Ben mans the controls with club member Bruce givnig instruction along with words of encouragement to on of the scouts as he takes his turn on the buddy box.
With a steady 10-15mph wind and gusting to over 25mph made flying quite challenging at times to say the least. But the club members and scouts made it

As you can see from the photos the plane of choice for the day was a foam Mig 27. These planes were used at one time as aerial targets. The planes were powered with .60 to 1.00 engines and handled the wind quite well.
In the above photo Jeff launches his Mig. In the photo to the right Robert launches his Mig and last but not least Bruce launches his Mig in the photo below.
Yes the Mig was the plane of choice but they were not the only planes in the air. Pete brought his Senior Kadet and with Mike at the controls gave quite a few scouts there first RC flight. It sure was fun watching Mike bring the Kadet in for a landing with those 25mph gusts. bottom photo
